Quantum Story

The amazing technological developments of the modern age have been enabled in part through the advances in quantum physics.  On this program, Prof. James Kakalios discussed the amazing story of quantum mechanics.

Where’s my particle in a box? 😉

  1. Quantum Mechanics is always fascinating. The whole concept of statistics based world is just mind boggling. But it also seem to be the favorite tool of the kooks and spiritualists.

One aspect I wish more people knew is Hawking radiation. So many kooks spread FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) that LHC (large hadron collider) would create pico-black-holes that will grow to devour the earth and the solar system. They cite a little bit they know of relativity, not nothing of QM. I’m anxiously waiting for the physical proof of Hawking radiation without having to wait trillions and trillions for black holes to disintegrate.

Does god really play dice with the universe? I can’t wait to find out in upcoming chapters of science. Meanwhile, hi-ho, hi-ho, back to non-science work I go…
