All Tangled Up

jason_gallicchio_DSC00911Particle entanglement is one of quantum mechanics’ strangest predictions. In fact, physicists have been trying to disprove it ever since they predicted it about 80 years ago. On this episode, Dr. Jason Gallicchio, postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago, helped us understand exactly what it means for particles to be entangled and how he proposes to use quasars to test one of the only remaining alternative explanations for this counterintuitive phenomenon that even Albert Einstein, famously, refused to believe.
